The University of Illinois
One of the nation's leading universities, the U of I was chartered in 1867 as the Illinois Industrial University, a state-supported land-grant institution. Known for the high quality of its academic programs as well as its outstanding facilities and research programs, Illinois ranks among the world's great universities. By 1994, enrollment had reached approximately 36,436 undergraduates, graduates and professionals in approximately 20 schools and colleges. Students represent all 50 states and over 100 foreign countries. As a land grant institution the university also conducts research and provides public service.

Parkland College
Situated on 233 acres, Parkland College is a fully accredited, two-year public college with an enrollment of approximately 9,000 students. For more than twenty-five years, Parkland has helped students of all ages earn career degrees, transfer successfully to four-year colleges and universities, and enrich their lives. In 1979, Parkland was cited as an outstanding example of late 20th century architecture at an exhibit at the New York Museum of Modern Art.
